Christmas is here, and the classic Dominican ponches (eggnogs) are the star of the season, but there's much more to Dominican Christmas drinks than just ponches. Enjoy our classic hot, nourishing drinks, my favorite Christmas liqueur, and even a vegan ponche I've created so vegans can join in the toast.

You can check all our Christmas recipes, and learn about our Christmas and holiday traditions.

Ponche crema is the star of the Dominican Christmas toasts, a thriving Dominican cottage industry, and an integral part of la canasta navideña (the Christmas basket).

My favorite drink of the season, a steaming cup of té de jengibre makes your home smell like Christmas and feels like a warm hug these cooler days of the year.

There are so many ponches available this time of the year, and this is one of my favorites. A combination of chocolate and eggnog is nothing short of marvelous.

This was my mom's recipe, and a lovely tradition not as well known. Easy to make, and with very Christmas-centric ingredients, this Dominican mandarincello is the perfect digestif to end the biggest meal of the year.

Not every ponche is an alcoholic beverage. This one is a hot breakfast drink, and may or may not contain a touch of alcohol. A very nutritious way to start the day.

A non-dairy herbal hot cocoa? Well, count me in! This classic drink from Dajabón and Santiago Rodriguez needs to be a part of your Christmas too.

The arrayán or guavaberry tree begins to bear fruit in the fall, the perfect time to prepare this traditional cocolo drink from San Pedro de Macorís, which is served at Christmas.

While not a traditional drink, I love adding some options for vegans, a dairy and egg-free smooth and creamy drink with some of my favorite Dominican ingredients, even non-vegans will love it.

Mamajuana (Dominican Spiced Rum)

Although not particularly Christmassy, mamajuana, with its rich flavor and aroma of spices and Dominican rum, is fabulous as a digestif after a sumptuous Christmas dinner.

Well, what can I say about coffee, my favorite drink. I have incorporated a Dominican crop into a ponche in a creamy drink that will make you want to have another shot.
