Ingredients
- ¼ cup butter, [60 grams]
- 2 tablespoons minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon dried chili flakes, or hot sauce, to taste (optional)
- 2 dozen large shrimp, (uncooked, peeled)
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley, or chopped cilantro
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice, or lime juice
- 2 teaspoons salt, (or more, to taste) divided
- 1 lemon, cut into wedges
Preparation
1. Sauté garlic
In a large skillet, heat the butter over low heat.Add the garlic and cook, stirring, until the garlic releases its aroma (1-2 minutes).Add half of the salt, chili flakes, and lemon juice, and cook, stirring, until the mixture is heated through again.
2. Cook shrimp
Increase heat to medium.Add the shrimp and cook until the shrimp turn pink.Season with salt to taste, mix in the parsley, and remove from heat.
3. Serve
Remove from heat and serve with lemon wedges.
Top tips
- Shrimp: For this recipe I prefer large shrimp, but any type will work fine.
- Butter substitute: You can switch butter for olive oil if you want a lighter alternative.
- Chili flakes: If you don't like spicy food, you can leave them out, but they add a nice touch to the dish.
